Program introduction

A preschool is a place where children get the most important skills they need in their lives. Love of learning, independent thinking, joy to work, desire to explore the world, to help others and being able to ask for help and resolve conflicts in a respectful manner. Our program for preschool children aged 3 to 6 years is based on the Montessori education method and Czech-English teaching. Montessori classrooms are tailored to the development of children and equipped with quality Montessori materials with a focus on the Czech and English languages. Children are taught by both Czech and English guides.

You can find our Duhovka Preschool branch in Pevnostní Street in a quiet part of Střešovice, Prague 6, in a newly renovated building of the former Spanish Embassy. Children can use the large garden featuring Montessori elements and full of green areas and space for games.

Duhovka has a long tradition and is one of the first Montessori institutions in the Czech Republic. I went through a common journey with Duhovka from its birth - the formation by professional American Montessori lecturers, to the present, when it offers a comprehensive educational program for children from 18 months to 19 years - "from toddlers to graduation". As a person with teacher education and many years of experience, I appreciate the way in which Duhovka creates a positive environment for children's development in all areas – from mathematics, languages and arts to social interactions with the world and society.

Teacher education with an extension for teaching children in preschool age 3 - 6 years, teaching experience in England and subsequently specialization and study of Montessori pedagogy completed by an international American Montessori Society certificate provide me with a huge foundation for work as a head teacher in Duhovka.

The atmosphere at Duhovka is very pleasant and children can develop here according to their
individual needs. The teachers are very friendly, I am not afraid to ask any question. I am looking
forward to the school year!
I think what helps me most are my studies of preschool education at the Faculty of Education of
Charles University, as part of which I also gained a lot of practical experience. We were even allowed
to visit one alternative preschool and I chose Montessori.

Duhovka is great for children because it provides them with an environment to learn important skills
on their own. By setting up tasks for the children to be independent it helps them to work through
problems to find a solution. The schools offers support when needed to the kids however, encourages
them to be independent.
I have recently graduated from University and during my time there I took a course in Human Growth
and Motor Development which helps me understand how children grow and how their motor skills
change as they age. I have also worked as a caregiver where I have learned a number of skills in
communication, compassion and patience. I have been working with kids for 10 years and look
forward to working at Duhovka.

Admitting children into the program

You can register for the Preschool every year at the time of enrollment. You will arrange a meeting with us to get all the information you need. You will then bring the completed application and registration sheet and we will prepare your contract.
