The topic of this conference is the prepared environment for children aged 0-12 years. The event is organised by Montessori Institute Prague, and Duhovka is one of its partners.
"The first aim of the prepared environment is, as far as it is possible, to render the growing child independent of the adult."
Maria Montessori, The Secret of Childhood, 1966.
During the morning block of lectures you can look forward to a talk by and experience of our methodologist Dorothy Paul who will focus on the prepared environment for children aged 3-6 years.

We believe that this conference shall be a unique opportunity to draw inspiration, to meet Montessori colleagues from around the Czech Republic and to share knowledge that we have so far acquired in our Montessori practice.
As one of the partners, Duhovka brings a unique one-week workshop World Peace Game by John Hunter to Prague.
What is the World Peace Game?
The World Peace Game is an activity aimed at elementary school pupils (aged 9-15 years), which simulates decision making processes on fundamental world issues. During the game the children by themselves solve national issues, nuclear or oil contamination, species extinction, economic crises and also wars. The complete game lasts up to 12 weeks and the impacts of decisions may occur even after a long time. The children learn to look beyond short-sighted reactions and impulsive thinking and instead to think in a long-term, more consequential way. Even though it is not a Montessori activity, it is a perfect complement to our “Peace Education” curriculum.
John Hunter, the Lecturer
John Hunter is a teacher from Virginia, USA. He travelled during his university studies and learned Mahatma Gandhi's thoughts during his stay in India. As a teacher, he was most interested in thoughts, how to teach children importance of peace in our violent world. He started discovering the solution in 1978, when he started teaching at Richmond High School and introduced his class to the World Peace Game for the first time. Since then he has developed and grew the game. He taught the children and also himself, how much the peace is important, and that it is really possible to achieve it. And that everyone can help with that. A couple of years ago John Hunter was one of the main speakers at the AMS conference in the USA. "It is not just a game, it is a life lesson which both pupils and teachers need", says John Hunter.
