Our Czech-English program serves children who are between 1.5 and 3 years of age. It is in a beautifully prepared environment designed for the developmental needs of the children in this age range.
As modern research has confirmed the first three years of life are extremely important for building a stable foundation from which the child can grow up into their full potential. We create an environment to support the Toddler in their sensitive periods, focusing on three significant areas, including the development of :
The physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development the child goes through is intense in the first three years. By 18 months, the child has learned the better part of walking (and running), is outgrowing or has outgrown the need for diapers, has established their native tongue and is practicing it, and has a burning desire to do what adults do and learn about how everything in the world works.
In the second year, the language areas of the brain are developing at lightning speed and the child has a language “explosion”; at the same time, nerve myelination is moving downward, causing more precise physical coordination and higher-order brain functioning in self- awareness. All evidence points to the value of exposing children to as much diversity and practice in order to perfect each skill they gain. This is the time to bring the child out of the home and into a peer environment for a short time each day.
Presentations are given to the child, individually or in small groups, in all areas of our curriculum. Each subject is sequentially presented and developed for independent practice.
They include:
We encourage the development of independence and the understanding of interdependence in the Toddler, encouraging them to create the path become competent and confident in their own being.
The Montessori quote “Never do for a child what the child can do for himself” is our motto.
